Why Do You Need Travel Insurance for Your Visa?
Many countries, including all Schengen zone members, require travelers to carry a minimum of USD 30,000-50,000 in medical insurance coverage as a condition of visa approval. Travel insurance protects you against emergency medical expenses, medical evacuation, trip cancellation, baggage loss, and other unexpected costs while abroad — and provides the documentation embassies ask for during visa processing.
Saver Plan Coverage Options
Our Saver Plan is available in two sum insured tiers and two regional variants, so you can match your coverage to your destination and visa requirements.
USD 50,000 Sum Insured
Suitable for most Schengen, UK, and Asia-Pacific visa applications. Covers emergency medical expenses, evacuation, repatriation, dental treatment, baggage loss, and trip cancellation up to USD 50,000.
USD 250,000 Sum Insured
Recommended for longer trips, older travelers, or destinations with higher medical costs. Provides five times the medical coverage of the base Saver Plan at a modest premium increase.
Excluding USA & Canada
Lower-cost option for travelers visiting Europe, UK, Asia, Australia, or other non-North American destinations.
Including USA & Canada
Required if your itinerary includes any time in the United States or Canada, where medical costs are significantly higher. Premiums are higher to reflect this risk.

How Is My Premium Calculated?
Your premium depends on three factors: the sum insured you select (USD 50,000 or USD 250,000), whether your trip includes USA/Canada, your age, and how many days you’ll be traveling (1 to 180 days). Older travelers and longer trips carry higher premiums, consistent with standard travel insurance underwriting practice. Use the calculator above for an instant, accurate quote — no signup required.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need travel insurance for my visa application?
Most Schengen, UK, and several other visa categories require proof of travel medical insurance with a minimum coverage amount, typically USD 30,000-50,000. Check your destination country’s specific visa requirements, or use our USD 50,000 Saver Plan, which meets most standard requirements.
What’s the difference between the Excluding and Including USA & Canada plans?
The Excluding USA & Canada plan costs less and covers travel to any other country worldwide. If any part of your trip includes the United States or Canada, you must select the Including USA & Canada variant, since medical costs there are significantly higher and require different underwriting.
How quickly can I get my insurance certificate?
Once you calculate your premium and confirm your plan, certificates are typically issued within a few hours during business days. This is fast enough to include with most visa application submissions, which usually require the certificate before your embassy appointment.
Can I buy insurance for a group or family?
Yes. Each traveler is quoted individually based on their own age and the shared trip duration, since premiums vary by age bracket. Contact us for multi-traveler bookings and we’ll calculate the combined premium for your group.
What if my trip duration changes after I purchase?
Contact our support team before your travel date. Extending coverage typically requires an additional premium payment calculated using the same age/duration rate table; shortening a trip may be eligible for a partial refund depending on the policy terms.
Is travel insurance different from my eVisa application?
Yes — travel insurance and your eVisa are separate products serving different purposes. Your eVisa is processed through our visa application service, while travel insurance is a supporting document many embassies require alongside your application. Many travelers arrange both together to complete their visa file.
Other Documents You May Need for Your Visa
Beyond travel insurance, many visa applications also require proof of accommodation, a return flight itinerary, and a covering letter. Our sister service DummyHotelTicket.com provides hotel booking confirmations, flight itineraries, and tour vouchers accepted by embassies worldwide.
